Whitman County: First place in WCL baseball will be decided in Asotin on Saturday, when LaCrosse-Washtucna (8-2, 10-2) travels to take on the Panthers (8-1, 9-1) in a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. The two teams have played once, with Asotin coming out on top 4-2 on April 15. … In softball, five teams are separated by one game in the league standings, with Garfield-Palouse in first with a record of 5-3. Asotin, Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia, Colton and LaCrosse-Washtucna are all close behind.

Panorama: Northport’s Chad Butorac had a big day at the Pasco Invitational (see Prep Profile). Also, Springdale’s Adam Thompson jumped 6-4 to finish fifth in the high jump and placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 43-10, also at Pasco. … Northport (5-1, 6-1) and Republic (9-1, 10-2) split a baseball doubleheader Saturday, keeping both even in the loss column atop the league. Sam Burke pitched the Mustangs to a 13-1 win in Game 1, but Republic came back with an 8-3 win in Game 2 to earn the split. … Selkirk’s softball team made things a little more interesting in the Panorama with a 7-5 win over previously undefeated Inchelium on Saturday. Inchelium still leads the league with a record of 10-1, with Curlew at 8-2 and Selkirk at 5-2.

Bi-County: Wilbur-Creston’s Braidy Haden ran the 400 meters in 50.84 seconds to finish fifth in Pasco and Justin Powell placed eighth in the high jump with a mark of 6-2. … Davenport softball (7-1, 7-2) stretched its league lead to two games with a 15-3, 12-0 doubleheader sweep of Northwest Christian last Friday. … Lind-Ritzville baseball (6-0, 11-1) is still perfect in league and has a two-game lead over Davenport.
