Holocaust Memorial unveiling

Temple Beth Shalom, 1322 E. 30th Ave., is unveiling Spokane’s Holocaust Memorial on Thursday at 6 p.m.

The memorial was created by Simon Kogan, an artist who received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Moscow, Russia, and has exhibits worldwide.

Immediately following the unveiling, author Michael Gurian will speak about “A 60-Year Journey of Courage and Spirit,” which will acknowledge the anniversary of the liberation of concentration camps in Europe during World War II.

Orthodox Easter

Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, 12407 E. 16th Ave., Spokane Valley, will celebrate Orthodox Easter, or “Pascha,” tonight at 11 with a candlelight service.

Bloomsday carbo-load, worship

Central Lutheran Church, 512 S. Bernard St., will offer a Bloomsday Eve spaghetti dinner today at 5 p.m. to help runners prepare for the big race on Sunday.

The cost of the dinner will be a free-will offering; proceeds will benefit the church’s youth group. After dinner there will be a casual worship service.

Bazaar and bake sale

Ancient Traditions Community Church, 1928 E. Rich Ave., will present a bazaar and bake sale today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

National Day of Prayer

Driscoll Boulevard Church, 4815 N. Driscoll Blvd., will celebrate the National Day of Prayer on Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The congregation will pray for the spiritual restoration of the government, media, church, family and education.

Airway Heights Community Church, 12th and King, Airway Heights, will host the Ambassador Choir from Prairie Bible College in Alberta next Saturday at 7 p.m.

Alternative church opening

The House of Hope is a new church of Centerism that focuses on metaphysical teachings for a new perspective.

The church will hold meditative and healing services every Sunday at 10 a.m. in the Ancient Traditions Church building, 1928 E. Rich Ave.

Christian singles

Spokane Christian Singles is offering two more opportunities to meet other singles.

Catholic and Protestant singles in their 20s, 30s or 40s are invited to a speed-dating session today at 5 p.m. at Old Country Buffet, 9606 N. Newport Highway. The cost is $10.

There also will be a Bloomsday barbecue Sunday at 4 p.m. at Mission Park, across from Avista Utilities. The afternoon will include volleyball and a potluck barbecue. Those attending are asked to bring their own meat to grill and a dish to share with everyone.
