Storm’s streak melted by Fever

Tamika Catchings had 24 points and nine rebounds and Tully Bevilaqua sank three 3-pointers as the Indiana Fever beat the Seattle Storm 78-68 Thursday for their fifth straight home victory at Indianapolis.

Natalie Williams added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Fever, who took control with a 14-0 run and led 34-24 at halftime.

Lauren Jackson scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Storm (14-11), who saw their four-game winning streak snapped.

Catchings, who became the 14th player in WNBA history to reach 300 steals, was 9 for 11 from the floor with two 3-pointers. Bevilaqua was 3 of 6 from 3-point range and scored nine points for the Fever.

Suzy Batkovic and Betty Lennox combined for 25 points for Seattle.

Monarchs 76, Sting 58: At Charlotte, N.C., Rebekkah Brunson scored 16 points and Sacramento beat Charlotte to spoil the debut of Sting coach Muggsy Bogues.

Yolanda Griffith added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Monarchs, who matched a franchise record with their sixth straight win. Tammy Sutton-Brown scored 13 points for the Sting, who recorded their club-record 10th straight loss.
