Nominations being accepted for Brightest Stars awards

The Spokesman-Review

Young people and adults are invited to nominate Kootenai County residents who have dedicated their time, talents and resources to making a difference in the lives of Idaho’s families and children for Gov. Dirk Kempthorne’s Brightest Stars awards.

“The Brightest Stars awards seek to recognize those ‘unsung heroes’ who tirelessly work on behalf of Idaho’s families and children,” Kempthorne said. Kempthorne will present four $5,000 cash awards to the grand-prize winners in the following categories: individual, organization, business and community of promise. A grand prize winner in the corporation category will also be recognized with a noncash award. Anonymous charitable foundations have contributed the prize money. A public ceremony to honor all Brightest Stars finalists will be held in the state Capitol in January.

Nomination materials must be submitted to the local mayor’s office by Aug. 30.
