Medicine Shoppe plans pet fund-raiser

What do you do when the four-legged member of your family needs daily medication?

Many of us have experienced the daunting task of trying to give our pets an antibiotic pill or shot of liquid when they are ill.

Just imagine if your furry family member needed to have medication every day, or worse yet, has diabetes and needs a daily insulin shot.

The Medicine Shoppe has many solutions to such problems.

Specialized veterinary pharmacists are on staff at the Medicine Shoppe, located at 1327 W. Northwest Blvd., to mix-up a variety of solutions, give advice on drug information regarding your pet, and offer a full line of hard-to-find human medications commonly used in veterinary medicine.

In an effort to give back to their fuzzy clientele, the pharmacy will donate $1 to SpokAnimal C.A.R.E. for every animal prescription filled now through Sept. 15.

Pet food donations will also be accepted during the fund-raising event, held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Call 327-1504 for more information.

Garage sale benefit

A garage sale will be held Saturday and next Sunday to benefit Cruz Barron, a six-month old Spokane resident and cancer patient, and his family.

At 2 months old, Cruz was diagnosed with Acute Neuroblastoma, an aggressive cancer which affects children. He has undergone four rounds of Chemotherapy, and is expected to be treated by two more.

Proceeds from the garage sale, beginning at 8 a.m. both days at 2321 E. 60th Ave., will be given to the Barron family for medical expenses.

Call 443-6156 or 990-6121 for more information or visit www.babycruz.org to monitor Cruz’s progress.

Golf for Wishing Star

Registration is under way for the fourth annual Golf Tournament at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, a benefit for the Wishing Star Foundation, to be held Sept. 30.

Cost is $165 per player, or $600 for a team of four, and includes golf cart, forecaddie, unlimited range balls, barbecue dinner, and club transportation and cleaning.

Shotgun start begins at 2 p.m.

The event also includes an auction, team and individual prizes, hole-in-one prizes and the option of 20 percent off nonsale items in the pro shop.
