Games of the week

All games in the Tacoma Dome

B-8 championship: LaCrosse-Washtucna (12-0) vs. Columbia (Hunters) (12-0), Friday, 4 p.m.

L-W’s Tigercats are going for their 48th consecutive win, which would tie the state record set by Toledo from 1965 to 1970. Columbia is trying to avenge its 60-12 loss in last year’s title game. For the full story on LaCrosse-Washtucna and Columbia, see Friday’s Spokesman-Review.

2A championship: Archbishop Murphy (14-0) vs. Pullman (13-0), Saturday, 10 a.m.

Pullman’s Greyhounds are trying to win their first State 2A title after two runners-up finishes. Archbishop Murphy is trying to win its first 2A title after back-to-back 1A titles in 2002-2003. Check out Saturday’s Spokesman-Review for an in-depth look at Pullman’s powerhouse team.

B-11 championship: Reardan (10-1) vs. DeSales (12-1), Saturday, 4 p.m.

This is the DeSales Irish’s fourth State B-11 championship game this century, but they have yet to win the title, something they accomplished four times in the 1990s. Reardan was one of the schools that denied DeSales, turning the trick in 2003, the second of the Indians’ two consecutive titles. For a look at both teams’ strengths, their defenses, see Saturday’s Spokesman-Review.
