O’Brien lifts G-Prep with double-double
Corinna O’Brien recorded a double-double with 24 points and 10 steals to lead Gonzaga Prep’s girls basketball team to a 57-41 non-league win over host Moscow on Wednesday.
O’Brien, who hit eight shots from the field and was 8 of 8 from the free-throw line, also had six assists. Amy Esmay contributed 11 points for the Bullpups. Kelsey Taylor led the Bears with 16.
Elsewhere, Heidi Heintz scored 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field and 5-of-8 shooting from the line, to propel Central Valley in a 60-40 season-opening win over visiting Hanford in a non-league game. The game was knotted at 22 at the end of the first half, but eight third-quarter points from Tracy Goehri broke the game open for the Bears. Justine Bowman scored eight of her 12 points in the final quarter and Heintz contributed nine, including five from the free-throw line. Nikki Depeel led the Falcons with 10.
