Deer Park victorious

Kevin McNeil scored 12 of his 26 points in the first quarter as Deer Park defeated Timberlake 63-42 in a non-league boys basketball game Tuesday night at Deer Park.

McNeil, who hit five 3-pointers in the game, nailed three in the first quarter to give the Stags a 20-7 lead in their season opener.

Cody Jones scored 23 points to lead the Tigers.

In other non-league action, Justin Taylor, Brent Leifer and Jesse Butcher scored 20 points apiece as St. John-Endicott routed Waitsburg 102-33 at St. John. Taylor also pulled down 13 rebounds, Butcher added 11 and Phillip Luft 10 for the Eagles (3-1). … Jason Reeder scored 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting as Lakeside (Nine Mile) defeated host Freeman 74-51. Reeder hit four 3-pointers to lead the Eagles (1-0), while DeAngelo Casto led the Scotties (0-1) with 14 points. … Max Munson scored 22 points and Josiah Manes added 21 as Post Falls Christian (3-0) defeated host St. Michael’s 77-57. Meagan Teade had 11 points and 13 rebounds to lead Colfax to a 50-38 victory over visiting Pullman in a non-league game. Jordan Harazin led the Bulldogs in scoring with 18 points and Kylie Shaw added six steals in the season opener for both teams.
