Deer Park victorious
Kevin McNeil scored 12 of his 26 points in the first quarter as Deer Park defeated Timberlake 63-42 in a non-league boys basketball game Tuesday night at Deer Park.
McNeil, who hit five 3-pointers in the game, nailed three in the first quarter to give the Stags a 20-7 lead in their season opener.
Cody Jones scored 23 points to lead the Tigers.
In other non-league action, Justin Taylor, Brent Leifer and Jesse Butcher scored 20 points apiece as St. John-Endicott routed Waitsburg 102-33 at St. John. Taylor also pulled down 13 rebounds, Butcher added 11 and Phillip Luft 10 for the Eagles (3-1). … Jason Reeder scored 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting as Lakeside (Nine Mile) defeated host Freeman 74-51.
