Whitworth presents Christmas concert
Whitworth College choirs will present their annual Christmas concert, “Great Tidings of Joy,” Friday and Saturday at First Presbyterian Church.
The Whitworth Choir and Whitworth Women’s Choir will be featured along with brass, string and percussion ensembles.
The program includes “A Prayer of the Middle Ages” by Howard Hanson; “Kyrie” and “Gloria” by György Orbán; an Advent suite from Handel’s “Messiah”; “What Sweeter Music” by Eleanor Daley; and “Christmas Day” from Gustav Holst’s “Choral Fantasy.”
There also will be an encore of the joyful processional “Eja!,” an audience favorite from last year’s concert, which features the choirs, percussion ensemble and student dancers.
Concert times are Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 3 and 7 p.m. at the church, 318 S. Cedar St. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students and seniors, through TicketsWest outlets (325-SEAT, 800-325-SEAT, www.ticketswest.com) or by calling 467-9397.
