O’Reilly places fourth at Foot Locker national

Senior Megan O’Reilly of Mt. Spokane High School finished fourth in the Foot Locker National Cross Country Championship at Balboa Park in San Diego on Saturday.

Freshman Jordan Hasay of Mission College Prep in Arroyo Grande, Calif., topped the girls field. Her time of 17 minutes, 4 seconds was the fastest in 12 years. O’Reilly finished in 17:36 over the 5,000-meter course.

A.J. Acosta of El Camino High School in Oceanside, Calif., won the boys race with a time of 15:01, less than a second ahead of Michael Coe of Cabrillo High in Lompoc, Calif.

Taylor Nepon of Mead High finished 36th with a time of 16:14.

Wrestling

Jeff Hedges opened the match with a major decision and it was clear sailing for the North Idaho Cardinals.

Hedges cruised to a 12-4 decision over Josh Williams in the 125-pound weight class and the Cardinals crushed visiting Southwestern Oregon 35-3.

Josh Edmondson and Jake Kallestad posted back-to-back pins for North Idaho.

Edmondson, a 184-pounder, pinned Darin Frey in 2 minutes, 6 seconds and Kallestad (197) followed with a pin of Travis Cameron in 3:46.

Josh Erickson also earned a major decision victory for NIC with a 15-3 drubbing of Abdul Qadir at 165.
