Dornan an All-American
North Idaho College volleyball player Collese Dornan added the biggest honor yet to her collection of postseason awards.
The sophomore setter from Fife, Wash., was named to the NJCAA All-America first-team. Dornan was seventh in the Scenic West Athletic Conference with a .333 hitting percentage and fifth in assists at 6.5 per game.
Dornan was previously honored as a first-team All-SWAC and All-Region 18 Tournament selection.
Men’s basketball
North Idaho College will play a home game on the road tonight, taking on Community Colleges of Spokane at 7:30 at Post Falls High. The Post Falls-Moscow boys meet at 6.
NIC head coach Jared Phay grew up in Post Falls and played and coached at Falls Christian Academy (now Post Falls Christian). NIC freshman guard Scott Stockwell was a PFHS standout.
NIC (12-1) defeated Spokane 90-78 two weeks ago.
The NIC Booster Club will hold a pre-game function from 5-7 at Red Lion Templin’s Resort Hotel in Post Falls.
“Eastern Washington freshman Rodney Stuckey has been selected the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 30 points in a victory over UC Riverside.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound guard became the first Big Sky player this season to reach the 30-point mark. He made 10 of 12 field goals, including 3 of 3 from 3-point range, in an 85-70 victory. He also made 7 of 9 free throws, had five assists, three steals, a block and two rebounds.
Wrestling
Unbeaten North Idaho College will hold “Pack the House” night Thursday when Clackamas visits Christianson Gym for a 7:30 match.
Regular admission is $3 for adults, $2 for students/senior citizens, but those wearing NIC colors will be admitted for half price and fans who donate a pair of prescription eyeglasses will be admitted free.
Girls basketball
Natalie Nichols had 16 points, seven assists and five steals and Bridgitt Bohannon added 16 points and nine rebounds to lead Lakeland (7-2) to a 69-32 non-league win over visiting Newport (1-4).
