Sooners bounce back from loss, beat ORU

Kevin Bookout had 24 points and 10 rebounds as No. 14 Oklahoma rebounded from an embarrassing basketball loss to beat Oral Roberts 81-73 Wednesday night in Norman, Okla.

Oklahoma (7-2) extended its home winning streak against non-conference foes to 45 games, the longest in Division I, but received a tougher-than-expected challenge from Oral Roberts (5-6), the preseason pick to win the Mid-Continent Conference.

The Sooners, losers by 24 to West Virginia in their previous game, trailed Oral Roberts by seven points with 13 minutes left and were tied with 2:29 left before closing with an 11-3 run.

Oral Roberts lost its third straight game.

(2) Connecticut 85, Stony Brook 52: Hilton Armstrong had 11 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high eight blocks to lead the Huskies (10-0) to a victory over the Seawolves (0-8) in Hartford, Conn.

(6) Illinois 89, Southeast Missouri State 64: Dee Brown scored 16 points, including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer at halftime, to lead the Illini (13-0) to their 13th straight victory, a win over the Redhawks (4-7) in Champaign, Ill.

(9) Michigan State 80, Tennessee Tech 63: Maurice Ager scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half, and the Spartans (11-2) struggled past the Golden Eagles (11-2) at East Lansing, Mich. Michigan State won its 10th straight, the Spartans’ longest streak since 2001.

(10) Louisville 89, Fairleigh Dickinson 66: Taquan Dean scored 19 points, leading four Louisville players in double figures, and the Cardinals (10-1) cruised past the Knights (5-6) at Louisville, Ky.

(16) Maryland 68, Delaware St. 54: Nik Caner-Medley scored 16 points, and the Terrapins (9-2) limited the Hornets (2-9) to five baskets in the first half of a victory at College Park, Md. It was the 550th career win for Maryland coach Gary Williams.

(19) N.C. State 81, New Hampshire 62: Engin Atsur scored all of his 15 points on 3-pointers, reserve Andrew Brackman added 14 points and the Wolfpack (10-1) cruised past the Wildcats (2-10) at Raleigh, N.C.

(21) Ohio St. 87, Gardner-Webb 58: Terence Dials had his way inside with 23 points and the Buckeyes (9-0) remained unbeaten with a victory over the Bulldogs (5-4) at Columbus, Ohio.

(23) North Carolina 89, North Carolina-Asheville 47: Freshman Danny Green had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead a balanced effort in the Tar Heels’ win over the Bulldogs (2-7) at Chapel Hill, N.C. The Tar Heels are 7-2.

(24) Wisconsin 78, Louisiana Tech 52: Brian Butch scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting and had 10 rebounds as the Badgers (10-1) beat the Bulldogs (7-6) at Madison, Wis.

Sasa Cuic had 20 points and six rebounds to lead Oregon State to a 78-54 win against Texas-Pan American (2-11) in Corvallis, Ore. The Beavers are 7-4.
