Spray painters raid, damage deputy’s home
Vandals with spray paint caused an estimated $15,000 worth of damage to a Kootenai County sheriff’s deputy’s home Thursday evening.
Deputy Kevin Mumford’s home was painted inside and out with the word “OINK” in letters up to 3 feet tall, according to a Sheriff’s Department report.
The report said Mumford’s wife left the home just after 6 p.m. and returned two hours later to find that their home, north of Hayden, had been vandalized. “OINK” was painted in blue spray paint on the garage door, windows, the home’s siding, the sidewalk, doors and cement garage floor, according to the report.
Inside the house, the suspects left footprints in the freshly varnished hardwood floors, which along with the slate in the home’s entry, were also painted with the word “OINK,” the report said.
Mumford could not be reached for comment.
Sheriff’s Capt. Ben Wolfinger said there are occasional reports of vandalism to patrol cars with damage like a flat tire or broken window.
“I can’t ever remember it being a deputy’s house,” Wolfinger said.
Wolfinger said Friday afternoon that no arrests have been made in connection with the crime.
