Bengals claw way to state

Bo Gregg hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 23 points Tuesday as Lewiston qualified for the State 5A boys basketball tournament by defeating visiting Coeur d’Alene 76-58 in the Region I tournament.

Lewiston (12-8) won the best-of-3 series 2-0.

Jeff Decker added 14 points and five rebounds for Lewiston.

The Bengals finished 11 of 22 on 3-pointers and shot 68 percent from the free-throw line.

Joe and Jake Wolfe combined for 29 points to lead the Vikings (9-14). CdA will compete in a state play-in game on Saturday at Craigmont.

3A District I

Tigers in, St. Maries out

Timberlake found itself down 23-18 after one half at North Idaho College, but Eric Lambert’s 7-for-8 shooting from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter propelled the Tigers (7-14) to a 45-42 win over St. Maries in a loser-out game. Lambert led Timberlake with 13 points, and Jarett Thompson contributed eight points and 10 rebounds. Ryne Eberlin guided the Lumberjacks (6-14) with 16 points. Timberlake plays No. 1-seeded Bonners Ferry tonight at NIC.

1A District I

Tigers bite Warriors

Jesse James finished with 20 rebounds and 19 points to lead Mullan past Kootenai 62-49 in a loser-out game at Lakeland High in Rathrdum. Cory Pehan added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers (10-10). Frank Donohoe led the Warriors (4-17) with 18 points. Mullan plays Post Falls Christian on Thursday at Lakeland. … Wallace 43, Clark Fork 39: Also at Lakeland, Wallace used a 6-0 run to begin the second half on its way to a 43-39 win over Clark Fork in another loser-out game. Stefan Norris scored 16 points and John Keener added 13 to lead the Miners (10-12). Clayton Hewitt scored 13 for the Wampus Cats (6-13). Wallace advances to play Lakeside-Plummer on Thursday.
