Saint Mary’s has won 15 of the 16 games it has played in McKeon Pavilion this winter, giving the Gaels their best home record – and most home wins – in school history. … ESPN.com’s Andy Katz, writing on Gonzaga: “The losses at Saint Mary’s and San Francisco and the gut checks at Loyola Marymount and at home to Portland don’t prove that they’re weak. They show that the WCC is tougher, which is a good thing to get this squad ready for the Dance.” … ESPN’s Bracketology guru Joe Lunardi is projecting the Zags to be a No. 4 NCAA Tournament seed in the Austin (Tex.) regional, meeting 13th-seeded Holy Cross (20-5) in a first-round game in Tucson, Ariz. Lunardi has Saint Mary’s slotted as the 11th seed in the Albuquerque (N.M.) regional, facing sixth-seeded Cincinnati (20-6) in a first-round matchup in Boise. … The WCC has advanced two teams to the NCAA Tournament three of the last five years. The conference has never had three teams in the NCAAs, but in 1989 it had four teams involved in postseason play. LMU and Saint Mary’s made the NCAA that year, and Santa Clara and Pepperdine earned NIT invites.
