Baseball/Softball
Sign up: The Olympic Softball Clinic, March 12 in the Whitworth College Fieldhouse and featuring gold-medal winners Stacey Nuveman, Amanda Freed and Jessica Mendoza, is accepting registrations. April 30: Second Annual Nick Holt Golf Tournament at University of Idaho Golf Course in Moscow. Five-person teams will take part in a best-ball scramble. Registration at 9 a.m., followed by shotgun start at 10. Dinner and auction held by Moscow Elks Club at 5 p.m. Proceeds will help fund summer school for UI football student-athletes. Multievent sports
April 10 and May 15: Spring Thaw Duathlons at Sontag Park in Nine Mile Falls. Course is 2-mile run, 10-mile bike, 3-mile run. Individuals are divided into men’s and women’s age groups; relay teams are also accepted. Registration at Sontag Park at 7 a.m., followed by race at 9. Helmets required for all cyclists. Nature

March 19: Spokane Parks & Recreation courses at Finch Arboretum. “Introduction to Orienteering” course introduces students to sport of orienteering. Classroom instruction from 9:30 to 11 a.m., immediately followed by outdoor course until noon. “Orienteering Skills” class includes classroom instruction and outdoor practice of map and compass skills for intermediate and advanced orienteering courses. March 13: Twenty-fourth annual St. Paddy’s Five at Spokane Community College. Five-mile race begins at 10 a.m. There will also be a 300-meter fun run for boys and girls 6 or younger at 11:30.
