Outback Bowl
Georgia (9-2) vs. Wisconsin (9-2)
Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa.
When: 8 a.m. TV: ESPN.
Key stat: Georgia is 21st nationally in rushing defense (111.2 ypg). Wisconsin is 87th in total offense (337.0 ypg).
About Georgia: Despite the gaudy record, this season is somewhat of a disappointment for the Bulldogs, who certainly had set their sights higher than the Outback Bowl. True freshman TBs Thomas Brown and Danny Ware will have trouble running against a stout Wisconsin defense. It’s vital for the Bulldogs that they hit some big plays in the passing game to open up the run. Georgia’s defense is a good one, led by touted E David Pollack.
About Wisconsin: The Badgers must run effectively to win, putting a lot of pressure on TB Anthony Davis. No legit defense is worried about Wisconsin’s simplistic passing attack. The defense ranked eighth nationally overall, and there is an excellent front four, but Georgia should be able to exploit the Badgers’ secondary.
The buzz: Wisconsin allowed 82 total points in its first nine games, all wins, but 79 in the final two, both losses.
