Lumberjacks get buzzing with 2nd-half 3-pointers

St. Maries took the lead in the first 2 minutes of the second half and raced to a 46-39 Intermountain League victory over visiting Kellogg on Saturday.

Sam Siron, Darbie Shelden and Rachelle Solom each drilled a 3-pointer to start the third quarter for the Lumberjacks. Shelden finished with a team-high 13 points. Mallory Lehman grabbed 14 rebounds to lead St. Maries (5-6, 2-1).

Cami Wendt’s 21 points and six steals led Kellogg (7-7, 1-3).

Priest River 58, Timberlake 17: The visiting Spartans dominated from the opening tip, jumping out to a 15-5 lead after one quarter at Spirit Lake. Eleven players scored for the Spartans (6-7, 3-0), led by Calli Turner and Tabitha Clark, who scored 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Tigers (4-9, 0-3), limited to two points in the fourth quarter, were led by Lynsie Powers’ seven points.

Hendrickx rallies Lakeside

Team captain Corrina Hendrickx rallied host Lakeside (6-5, 3-1) from a five-point deficit in the final 1:40, lifting the Knights to a 64-63 victory over Kootenai at Plummer. Hendricks hit a pair of free throws to cut the Warriors’ lead to 63-60, then stole the ball at midcourt and scored to make it 63-62. Wynonna Johnson drilled a jumper with 15 seconds left to give Lakeside the win. Hendrickx finished with 25 points and teammate Krystal Stockdale contributed 13 for the Knights. Cassie Scheffelmaier scored 25 points to lead the Warriors (5-8, 3-1), but missed a potential game-winning shot at the buzzer.

Bulldogs romp past Troy

Defending State 1A champion Colfax jumped to an 18-3 lead after one quarter and rolled to a 59-29 win over visiting Troy. The Bulldogs collected 21 steals and got 10 points and 10 rebounds from Lauren Mellor. Angie Dennison paced Colfax (7-5) with 11 points. … Bonners Ferry 35, Post Falls 34: The Badgers held off a rally that saw the visiting Trojans score five points in the final 30 seconds to win the first game in the new Bonners Ferry gymnasium. Becky Lowther had 11 points and Jennifer Youngwirth added 10 to lead the Badgers (5-5). Kandice McArthur scored 10 points to lead Post Falls (2-11). … Lewiston 45, La Grande (Ore.) 38: Lisa Cannon scored 12 points to lead the Bengals (8-6) past the visiting Tigers. Cannon hit two of Lewiston’s three 3-pointers.
