The WCC jumped from No. 8 to No. 7 in this week’s Collegiate Basketball News men’s RPI Ratings. The ranking matches the highest attained by the league. … Heading into the weekend, the WCC is one of three conferences in which no member institution has a losing record. The other two boasting such a distinction are the Atlantic Coast and Big 12 conferences. … WCC teams are a combined 55-9 when playing on their home courts. … San Diego’s frontcourt trio of Brice Vounang, Nick Lewis and Brandon Gay combined for 56 points and 21 rebounds in last Saturday’s 87-82 overtime loss at San Francisco. The defeat marked the first time the Toreros have lost this season when leading at halftime. … Gonzaga has played in front of sellout crowds in each of its first four WCC games and is expected to do so again today when it faces San Francisco in the Dons’ 5,300-seat War Memorial Gymnasium. … Gonzaga’s 89-81 road loss to Saint Mary’s on Jan. 8 knocked the Zags out of first place in the WCC for the first time since Jan. 18, 2001. But the Bulldogs regained their customary perch atop the league standings by routing Pepperdine 86-62 last Saturday.
