Hewitt leads Clark Fork past Eagles

Clark Fork opened Tuesday’s North Star League game by hanging a 10-2 run on visiting Coeur d’Alene Charter and finishing with a 60-40 victory.

Clayton Hewitt poured in 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Wampus Cats (4-6, 3-2). Teammate Dustin Gannon dished off six assists.

Austin Folnagy and Nathan Stueckle both scored 11 points to lead the Eagles (0-7, 0-5).

Third quarter lifts Lewiston

Lewiston (7-6, 4-3) roared back from a 12-point halftime deficit to score a 68-65 win over host Lakeland (7-9, 3-6) at Rathdrum. The Hawks went ice-cold in the third quarter, shooting 3 of 11 from the floor while Lewiston went on a 22-9 tear. Beau Blewett scored the winning basket with 20 seconds left in the game for the Bengals.

Scotties romp at Timberlake

Washington 1A third-ranked Freeman took a 20-4 lead after one quarter and never looked back, scoring an 80-31 win over host Timberlake at Spirit Lake. Malcolm Soelberg had 21 points to lead Freeman (13-2), which won its 11th straight game. Matt Douglass’ 11 points paced Timberline (5-9). … St. Maries 55, Wallace 48: The Lumberjacks (5-8) built a 32-25 lead in the first half and maintained it to earn the victory. Cameron Michael had 17 points to lead St. Maries. Stefan Norris scored 22 and had eight rebounds to lead Wallace (4-9).

Hawks pounce on Lewiston turnovers

Lakeland used six third-quarter turnovers to take control of its Inland Empire League game with visiting Lewiston, scoring a 55-35 victory. Kayla Stiegemeier had 11 of her 15 points in the second half to lead the Hawks (13-5, 7-4), who got nine points and 15 rebounds from Ashley Beck. The Bengals (8-11, 4-7) got 14 points from Ashley Zenner. … Kellogg 55, St. Maries 46: Kellogg (9-9, 2-4) used a big fourth quarter to score a Intermountain League victory over visiting St. Maries (7-9, 3-3). The Wildcats went on a 22-7 tear in the final quarter to secure the win. … Wallace 60, Kootenai 42: Lisa Carver scored a game-high 16 points to lead the league-leading Miners over host Kootenai in a North Star League matchup at Harrison. Cara Hayman added 12 points for Wallace (14-3, 7-0). Cassie Scheffelmaier had 15 points to lead the Warriors (6-10, 4-2).

Megan Stanley scored 14 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and dished off three assists to led Newport (8-8) to a 46-34 win over visiting Bonners Ferry. Becky Lowther had 11 points for the Badgers (8-7). … Colton 52, Lakeside-Plummer 48: The Wildcats went on an 18-9 run in the fourth quarter to score the come-from-behind win. Casey Riedner had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Colton (4-11). Corrina Hendrickx led the Knights (14-1) with 15 points.
