WINDSOR, Ontario – Becca Noble’s future keeps getting brighter by the minute.

The Rogers High School graduate held off fellow American Heidi Magill to win the women’s 800-meter run at the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships on Saturday.

Noble, a three-time State 4A champion in the 400 and a state champion in the 800 this year, finished in 2 minutes, 4.07 seconds. Magill finished in 2:04.12.

Cuba’s Analia Vidlaud Quebrun was third in 2:06.49, followed by Jamaica’s Jodian Richards (2:08.52) and Canada’s Kate Van Buskirk (2:08.73).

Noble, who will run track for the University of Oregon next season, missed the meet record of 2:03.70 set by Mexico’s Mairelin Fuentes in 1997 by .37 seconds.

Noble clocked a 2:03.73 in winning the U.S. Junior Track and Field Championships in June.
