Marlins 8, Braves 0: At Atlanta, Dontrelle Willis pitched a five-hitter to become the N.L.’s first 12-game winner, leading Florida over Atlanta. Miguel Cabrera hit two homers and drove in a career-high six runs for the Marlins, who were outscored 13-0 in the first two games of the series but used Willis’ dominant outing to salvage the finale.

Mets 4, Phillies 3: At Philadelphia, Kazuhisa Ishii pitched 6 2/3 strong innings and Jose Reyes had three hits and stole three bases, leading New York past Philadelphia. Doug Mientkiewicz homered and drove in two runs for the last-place Mets. Ishii (2-6) gave up three runs and six hits for his second win in nine starts.

Brewers 8, Cubs 7: At Milwaukee, Bill Hall hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer off Mike Remlinger (0-2) with two outs in the eighth as Milwaukee overcame a 6-4 deficit and a pair of Derrek Lee homers to gain a split of the four-game series with Chicago.

Dodgers 4, Padres 3: At San Diego, Jeff Kent hit a sacrifice fly with one out in the 10th, his second late-inning RBI, and Los Angeles rallied for a split of the four-game series with San Diego. Cesar Izturis doubled off Trevor Hoffman (0-4) opening the 10th, was sacrificed to third by Mike Edwards and scored on Kent’s fly to center.

Diamondbacks 7, Giants 2: At San Francisco, Troy Glaus homered and Brandon Webb pitched seven strong innings for his first win in nearly three weeks to lead Arizona over San Francisco. Luis Gonzalez had two hits, drove in a run and scored for the Diamondbacks, who split the four-game series.

Pirates 11, Cardinals 7: At St. Louis, Matt Morris lost for the first time this season, getting knocked out in the fourth inning as Pittsburgh ended its 12-game losing streak against St. Louis. Dave Williams (6-5) allowed four runs – three earned – and six hits in six innings. Morris (8-1), unbeaten in 12 previous starts this season, was chased after two batters in the fourth inning.

American League

Twins 6, Tigers 2: At Minneapolis, Carlos Silva pitched his second complete game, working around nine hits and spurring Minnesota out of its slump with a win over Detroit. Silva (6-3) struck out two without a walk. The Tigers’ Chris Shelton had three hits, including a home run.

Devil Rays 9, Yankees 4: At New York, Jorge Cantu hit a pair of two-run homers, and Tampa Bay won its first series at Yankee Stadium since Sept. 24-27, 1999, improving to 7-3 overall against New York this year. Damon Hollins added a three-run double as Tampa Bay took three of four from the Yankees. Mark Hendrickson (3-4) won for the first time in five starts, allowing four runs and nine hits in

7 2/3 innings.

Blue Jays 6, Orioles 2: At Toronto, Roy Halladay (11-4) allowed two runs and seven hits in eight innings with eight strikeouts and no walks, and Toronto beat Baltimore. Orlando Hudson had three RBIs for the Blue Jays, who took three of four from the Orioles.
