Working for the WPA

The Cannon Hill Sewer project was built using Works Progress Administration labor in 1941. Some of the rock the workers encountered was buried 21 feet down, making this one of the toughest project tackled by the WPA. The federal government paid $549,462 and the city of Spokane paid $152,000 to complete the project.
