Last baseball season ended bitterly for the GNL, which had two teams lose close games in the State 2A quarterfinals. Lakeside lost 6-5 to eventual champion Port Townsend, and Colville fell 5-3 to Naches. Lakeside will have to fill the shoes created by the departure of league MVP Jordan Moore, now at CC Spokane. Colville’s softball team, which lost to Hoquiam 2-0 in the State 2A first round, returns league MVP and University of Oregon-bound pitcher Melissa Rice along with three other all-leaguers.
