Everyone is beating each other up in NEA softball, and the result is a three-way tie for first between Kettle Falls, Freeman and Colfax, all at 4-2. Freeman split a doubleheader with Colfax on Saturday, and both fell into a tie with KF, which swept Newport. The teams aren’t in action against each other until a week from Saturday, when Freeman travels to KF. … Newport baseball (15-0, 8-0) has clinched at least a tie for first in the NEA with an 8-1, 24-2 doubleheader sweep last Saturday over Kettle Falls.
