Name: Marilyn Boyd and Thea Drake

Hometown: Santa Cruz, Calif.; now Coeur d’Alene.

Occupation: Marilyn and her daughter Thea are preparing to open Bella Rose Cafe on Sherman Avenue in about two weeks. Thea, who has been a student at Eastern Washington University, is a pastry chef and always wanted her own bakery. Marilyn has “kicked around the idea” of a coffee shop for some time. They were here at Easter and spotted the space that will soon be Bella Rose Cafe and bought it. A “soft” opening is planned for May 18.

Family: Marilyn’s husband and Thea’s dad is Terry Boyd, who is a contractor. Younger daughter Justina, will be here soon with her three little girls. Bella Rose will be a family business with a few more employees.
