Cooper gives Cards split at Lakeside

Medical Lake’s Cory Cooper pitched a four-hitter, leading the Cardinals to a 7-1 victory over Lakeside in the first game of a Great Northern League baseball doubleheader at Nine Mile Falls on Monday.

Anthony Jorgenson and Justin Propeck had three hits apiece for Medical Lake (10-7, 8-7 GNL), which had 13 for the game.

Lakeside (11-6, 10-5) broke open the nightcap with a five-run second inning on its way to a 9-3 victory. Alex Stillar led the Eagles, batting 2 for 3 and scoring four runs.

Boys golf

Ferris placed four players among the top 15, defeating Gonzaga Prep by 17 strokes in the final GSL boys tournament of the season at Liberty Lake Golf Course.

Dustin Poe led the Saxons, shooting 1-over-par 71 and sharing medalist honors with Clarkston’s Joel Dahmen, who earned his third victory in GSL play.

Softball

Monday’s scheduled game between West Valley and Cheney was rained out. The game will be played at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cheney.
