Moscow’s Scott moves on to semifinals
Moscow’s Morgan Scott advanced to the boys singles semifinals by defeating Jason Tietsort of Caldwell 6-1, 6-7 (6), 6-2 at the State 4A tennis championships at Vallivue High School in Caldwell.
Scott will meet Bonneville’s Patrick Schwendemann in this morning’s semifinal. The other semifinal will match Nampa teammates Stephen Thomas and Fabio Victor.
The Bears completed the first day with 12 points, fourth in the team race. First-place Bishop Kelly, with 27 points, leads Nampa by nine and Hillcrest by 11.
Moscow’s Maddie Snevily lost to Bishop Kelly’s Sarina Stadtmueller 6-0, 6-2 in a girls singles quarterfinal.
In boys and girls doubles, Moscow competitors lost in the first round, and in the second round in mixed doubles.
“Clark Fork’s Rayna Allen rolled into the semifinals of the State 3A tournament at Timberline High School by defeating Amber Edwards of Parma 6-1, 6-2. Allen will meet defending champion Caity Jones of Homedale in this morning’s semifinal. CF also qualified a boys doubles team into the semifinals.

Golf
At Twin Falls Municipal Golf Course, Bryson Carter shot a 5-over-par 73, and teammates Randy Buono and Jordan Howerton carded 74s as Lewiston’s boys qualified for today’s team championship round of the State 5A tournament. The top seven teams advanced, from first-place Twin Falls (289) to seventh-place Lewiston (300). Coeur d’Alene missed the cut by 10 shots, although Mike Dorash and Tyler Johnson of the Vikings fired 73s. Also for CdA, Kyle Carson shot 81 and Ryan Erickson 83. Toliver Latham of Twin Falls won medalist honors by shooting 68 and defeating Capital’s Brad Tensen on the third playoff hole. … In the girls tournament at the same site, Lewiston shot 379 and CdA 398 as both missed the cut. Lisa Cannon led Lewiston with a 9-over 80 and CdA’s Vanessa Borsheim shot 95. Erin Johnson added a 98 for the Vikings, one shot better than teammate Michelle Olsen. Borah’s Lauren Archer won medalist honors with a 70. Twin Falls’ 316 leads runner-up Eagle by 20.
