Freeman’s football team has its hands full. The fifth-ranked Scotties (8-2) have a first-round State 1A playoff matchup against top-ranked Royal (11-0), a team that hasn’t lost since 2003. Making matters worse for Freeman, the Knights return quarterback Ray Valle, who set a 1A final record with 332 passing yards against the Scotties last year as Royal handily beat Freeman 29-7 for the State 1A title. Valle’s 326 yards of total offense also set a State 1A final record.
