Grading the Cougs

The Spokesman-Review

Quarterback: B+

Brink finally makes the plays down the stretch to get a win – no interceptions, either.

Running backs: A-

No breakaway runs for Harrison, but solid and steady all the way through.

Wide receivers: B+

No one shining star, just consistent efforts across the board, including tight end Cody Boyd.

Offensive line: B-

Husky pass rush was effective; still, 207 yards for the running back makes a difference.

Defensive line: B

Not too many amazing plays, but a sack and a deflection on the final series helped out.

Linebackers: B+

Having Derting back really does change the defense – at least a little bit.

Secondary: B-

A halfback pass and a number of open players downfield? The Cougars got away with one here.

Special teams: C

Three missed field goals, a muffed punt and poor punting. Yeesh.

Coaching: A-

Didn’t like the two-point conversion call, but kudos for keeping this team into things despite the losses.

Overall: B+
