University stays unbeaten in GSL girls soccer play

Abby Goss scored twice and added an assist as University stayed undefeated in Greater Spokane League girls soccer play with a 3-1 home victory over Central Valley (4-5, 4-3) on Friday.

Rachel Lopez hit the game-winning goal for the Titans (9-0, 7-0 GSL) in the 51st minute of the game on a breakaway.

Tonya Schnibbe added two assists.

In other action around the Greater Spokane League, five different Ferris players scored and defender Lauryn Coombs had a pair of assists as the Saxons (6-2, 6-1) beat Clarkston (0-10, 0-7) 5-0 at Ferris. … Sarah Dean scored twice in Gonzaga Prep’s 6-0 win at West Valley (3-6, 1-6). Elise Kuhar-Pitters had seven saves for the Bullpups (8-1, 6-1). … Mallory Mott scored in the 62nd minute and set up Lindsey Moles in the 71st to give East Valley a 2-0 home win over Lewis and Clark (3-7, 2-5). Megan Como had six saves for the Knights (6-3, 5-2). … Alyshah Smith opened scoring in the 27th minute and added an assist to give Mead (7-2, 5-2) a 3-1 home win over Cheney. Amy Knox had 13 saves for the Blackhawks (4-5, 2-5). … Tiara Pitman headed in Lisa Marks‘ free kick in the 70th minute to give Mt. Spokane (6-2, 5-2) an insurance goal in a 2-0 win on a sloppy field at North Central (2-7, 1-6). … Nicole Ervin scored twice and Kayla Becker added a goal and two assists as Shadle Park defeated host Rogers (0-8, 0-7) 6-0. Freshman Megan Lawrie also had two assists for the Highlanders (7-2, 5-2).

Volleyball

Janae Forney and Hannah Zimmerman each had eight blocks as Lewis and Clark (7-1) swept host Central Valley in Greater Spokane League action. Ivy Bush added 12 kills for the Tigers, while Samantha Kern had 32 assists for the Bears (4-4). … Also in the GSL, Kara Crisp had 23 assists and eight digs to lead University to a sweep of host Rogers (0-8). Ashlee Valkenaar served four aces for the Titans (5-3).
