Britney’s new tune: Bid me, baby, one more time
WEAR BRITNEY’S BRA, kick off her flip-flops and cuddle her toy bear – all for charity. Britney Spears is holding an online garage sale, auctioning clothing, furniture and jewelry on eBay to raise money for the Mississippi Hurricane Recovery Fund.
The auction, which opened Saturday, continues this week, with proceeds going to The Britney Spears Foundation to help hurricane victims.
“This is a great opportunity to get some cool (and rare) Britney items while contributing to a very important cause!” says a posting on the 23-year-old, Louisiana-born singer’s Web site.
Items include a white stone bra worn in one of her videos, a pair of blue-and-pink jeans with a pink suede buckle belt, and an autographed “I Have the Golden Ticket” burgundy tank top, with an arrow pointing down – similar to the light blue one a pregnant Spears wore to the premiere of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
Spears, married to former backup dancer Kevin Federline, gave birth to their first child, a son, last month.
But they’ll just call him Clark
By the way, we explained Tuesday why Nicolas Cage‘s new son, Kal-el Coppola Cage, has that middle name; Cage is a nephew of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola.
But as for the first name? Kal-El was the original name of Superman on his home planet, Krypton – and Cage was slated to play the Man of Steel in a mid-‘90s Tim Burton film that fell apart in preproduction.
You cheatin’ tart
Country singer Chris Cagle was excited about becoming a dad – only to learn after the baby was born that he’s not the father.
“As excited as I was about becoming a new father, my disappointment now is equally as strong,” Cagle, who is not married, said in a posting on his Web site.
Mommy, do I get 10 percent?
A California judge has granted a request by Pamela Anderson for a three-year restraining order against an alleged stalker.
Among other things, Anderson said William Peter Stansfield approached her 7-year-old son at school and told her that she should work on a film with a script he wrote for her.
Kate suffers another blow
Supermodel Kate Moss’ boyfriend, Babyshambles rocker Pete Doherty, was arrested for suspected illegal use of “class A drugs” – which includes heroin and cocaine – following a Saturday night raid at a London concert hall.
Moss reportedly has entered an Arizona rehab clinic after photos of her apparently snorting cocaine were published in British tabloids.
Bet he could make a killing
Yes, that was O.J. Simpson signing autographs at a Halloween-themed comic-book convention in Los Angeles over the weekend which just happened to coincide with the 10th anniversary of his acquittal on charges of murdering his wife.
The show’s promoter said Simpson was “not getting a penny” for his visit, but was using the event as a possible trial run for future public appearances which he’ll make “in exchange for donations to his kids’ college fund.”
