Northeast B-8: For the past three seasons, either Columbia or Sprague-Harrington has taken home the league football title, and each time their matchup has decided the champion. Friday afternoon the second-ranked Lions (5-0, 2-0) will host S-H (4-0, 1-0) in Hunters. Columbia RB Miles St. John has rushed for 428 yards and nine touchdowns in his last two games. For S-H, junior RB Leigh Talkington and sophomore RB Terry Kissler have both eclipsed 100 yards three times this season.

Bi-County: Three volleyball teams remain undefeated in the league season: Sprague-Harrington (3-0), Lind-Ritzville (4-0) and Davenport (3-0). S-H plays at Davenport tonight and Davenport takes on L-R Tuesday night. The head-to-head play ends Oct. 13 with Lind-Ritzville at Sprague-Harrington, and by then it should be clear who is the best team.

Southeast B-11: Football league play starts Friday, as DeSales (4-1) begins its title defense at Waitsburg (2-1). Asotin (3-1) will travel to Pomeroy (1-3) in a game that has decided second place the last two seasons.

Southeast B-8: No. 1 LaCrosse-Washtucna (5-0, 2-0) and No. 3 Colton-Pullman Christian (5-0, 2-0) football will hit the road. L-W will travel to Prescott (0-4, 0-2), while CPC plays St. John-Endicott (2-2, 0-1).

Whitman County: Volleyball contenders and pretenders have been separated as league play hits the halfway mark, with Rosalia (5-1), Garfield-Palouse (4-1), LaCrosse-Washtucna (5-2), and Tekoa-Oakesdale (4-2) separated by one game. Gar-Pal goes to L-W tonight in the biggest game of the week.
