Grading the Cougs

The Spokesman-Review

Quarterback: B-

The solidity of Brink’s game was back. WSU still needs the fourth-quarter heroics.

Running backs: A

Harrison is playing like an All-American, though foes’ ability to shut him down late is troubling.

Wide receivers: B

Hill’s return made everyone else better, and Bumpus was back closer to his normal self.

Offensive line: A-

Another 200-yard day for Harrison and Brink stayed on his feet throughout, good signs for a line.

Defensive line: D+

Sacks were there, but why is the other team gaining ground in fourth quarters this season?

Linebackers: C-

Trent does OK replacing Derting. But without big plays, Cougars linebackers aren’t that effective.

Secondary: D

Big interception early, but Olson torched DBs for five scores and it was easy pickings late.

Special teams: B

A wash in the game, while credit goes to Langley for a career-long field goal.

Coaching: C

Best pre-game job of the year squandered by more in-game adjustment blunders.

Overall: C+
