Grading the Cougs

The Spokesman-Review

Quarterbacks: D-

Setting up wideouts to get hit over the middle, failure to carry the offense – a theme has developed.

Running backs: B-

Sure, the yards are nice … but if the team can’t score and the ball hits the ground, what good is it?

Wide receivers: D+

Losing Bumpus ended up hurting as no others could play in Hill’s stratosphere. Seven Cougars caught one pass each.

Offensive line: B-

Solid, not spectacular – just the way an offensive line usually likes it.

Defensive line, linebackers, secondary: All D-

Bad, bad and bad.

Special teams: B

The bright spot, keeping Reggie Bush in check. Would be even better were it not for a blocked PAT.

Coaching: D

WSU wasn’t going to beat this team. That doesn’t excuse a poor plan.

Overall: D+
