Baylor 20, Army 10: At West Point, N.Y., Shawn Bell completed 20 of 30 passes for 205 yards and one touchdown to lead the Bears (3-0) to a victory over the Black Knights (0-2).

Penn State 40, Central Michigan 3: At State College, Pa., Michael Robinson threw three touchdown passes and ran for another and the Nittany Lions (3-0) routed the Chippewas (1-2).

Toledo 42, Temple 17: At Philadelphia, Bruce Gradkowski threw four TD passes and ran for another score and the Rockets (3-0) routed the Owls (0-3).

Rutgers 17, Buffalo 3: At Amherst, N.Y., Ryan Hart threw a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Scarlet Knights (2-1) over the Bulls (0-3).

South

West Virginia 31, Maryland 19: At College Park, Md., backup quarterback Pat White directed three fourth-quarter touchdown drives as the Mountaineers (3-0) topped the Terrapins (1-2).

Alabama 37, South Carolina 14: At Columbia, S.C., Kenneth Darby rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown, and the Crimson Tide (3-0, 1-0 SEC) cruised past the Gamecocks (1-2, 0-2).

Vanderbilt 31, Mississippi 23: At Nashville, Tenn., Jay Cutler threw for 314 yards and ran for another 58, leading the Commodores (3-0, 2-0 SEC) past the Rebels (1-1, 0-1).

Duke 40, VMI 14: At Durham, S.C., Justin Boyle ran for 113 yards and two TDs and the Blue Devils (1-2) beat the Division I-AA Keydets (1-2).

Auburn 63, Ball State 3: At Auburn, Ala., Brad Lester rushed for two TDs and returned a kick 93 yards for another, helping the Tigers (2-1) roll past the Cardinals (0-3).

North Carolina State 54, Eastern Kentucky 10: At Raleigh, N.C., Toney Baker ran for two TDs and caught a scoring pass as the Wolfpack (1-1) defeated the Colonels (0-3).

Wake Forest 44, East Carolina 34: At Winston-Salem, N.C., Chris Barclay ran for 210 yards and four TDs to lead the Demon Deacons (1-2) over the Pirates (1-1).

Akron 17, Middle Tennessee 7: At Murfreesboro, Tenn., Luke Getsy passed for 319 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Zips (1-1) past the Blue Raiders (0-3).

Wisconsin 14, North Carolina 5: At Chapel Hill, N.C., Brian Calhoun rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Badgers (3-0) over the Tar Heels (0-2).

South Florida 31, Central Florida 14: At Tampa, Fla., Andre Hall ran for 155 yards and scored two touchdowns to help the Bulls (2-1) beat the Golden Knights (0-2).

Southern Miss. 48, McNeese St. 20: At Hattiesburg, Miss., Larry Thomas ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns and the Golden Eagles (1-1) defeated the Division I-AA Cowboys (1-1).

UAB 35, Jacksonville State 28: At Birmingham, Ala., Darrell Hackney threw two TD passes and Corey White ran for two scores to lead the Blazers (2-1) past the Division I-AA Gamecocks (0-3).

Memphis 59, Chattanooga 14: At Memphis, Tenn., DeAngelo Williams ran for 205 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers (1-1) over the Division I-AA Mocs (2-1).

Mississippi State 21, Tulane 14: At Shreveport, La., the Bulldogs (2-1) spoiled the Green Wave’s hurricane-delayed season opener, using Jerious Norwood’s late 17-yard touchdown run to win.

Nebraska 7, Pittsburgh 6: At Lincoln, Neb., Adam Ickes blocked Josh Cummings’ 46-yard field-goal attempt as time ran out, and the Cornhuskers (3-0) edged the Panthers (0-3).

Missouri 52, Troy 21: At Columbia, Mo., Marcus Woods had a 73-yard punt return for a touchdown and also scored on a 1-yard run as the Tigers (2-1) knocked off the Trojans (1-2).

Miami (Ohio) 27, Kent State 10: At Kent, Ohio, Brandon Murphy rushed for 172 yards and a TD to lead the RedHawks (1-2, 1-1 MAC) over the Golden Flashes (1-2, 0-1).

Indiana 38, Kentucky 14: At Bloomington, Ind., Blake Powers threw four TD passes as the Hoosiers (3-0) stopped the Wildcats (1-1).

N. Illinois 42, Tennessee Tech 3: At Dekalb, Ill., Phil Horvath completed four touchdown passes in the first half and the Huskies (1-2) rolled past the Division I-AA Golden Eagles (1-2).

Western Michigan 34, Southern Illinois 28: At Kalamazoo, Mich., Ryan Cubit passed for 262 yards and three TDs to lead the Broncos (1-2) over the Salukis (2-1).

Cincinnati 7, W. Carolina 3: At Cincinnati, Bradley Glatthaar ran 7 yards for a touchdown late in the first half and the Bearcats (2-1) held off the Division I-AA Catamounts (2-1).

Minnesota 46, Florida Atlantic 7: At Minneapolis, Laurence Maroney rushed for 145 yards and two TDs to lead the Gophers (3-0) past the Division I-AA Owls (0-3).

Southwest

Texas A&M 66, SMU 8: At College Station, Texas, Reggie McNeal set a school record with 449 total yards to lead the Aggies (1-1) to a romp over the Mustangs (1-2).

Oklahoma St. 20, Arkansas St. 10: At Stillwater, Okla., Bobby Reid threw a TD pass in his first career start and the Cowboys (3-0) beat the Indians (1-2).

Tulsa 54, North Texas 2: At Denton, Texas, Paul Smith threw for 189 yards and two TDs as the Golden Hurricane (1-2) whipped the Mean Green (1-1).

Far West

Wyoming 29, Air Force 28: At Air Force Academy, Colo., Corey Bramlet dove in from the 1-yard line with 1:25 left to lift the Cowboys (2-1, 1-0 MWC) over the Falcons (2-1, 1-1).
