It’s a full-time job keeping abreast of Tyra’s … career

The Spokesman-Review

RUMORS HAVE PERSISTED for years: Is Tyra Banks, uh, real? Could anyone that shapely have gotten that way naturally?

And then there’s this: Why has someone who looks like she does had such a second-rate acting career?

To answer the first question, Banks underwent a televised sonogram Tuesday on her new talk show to prove that her breasts aren’t fake.

“I’m tired of this rumor,” the supermodel said on “The Tyra Banks Show.” “It’s something that’s followed me forever,”

Banks played dirty and asked the men in the audience to leave. Then Dr. Garth Fisher, from ABC’s “Extreme Makeover,” performed a touch test, then the sonogram, and concluded: “Tyra Banks has natural breasts; there are no implants.”

“By no means am I saying a breast implant is a bad thing,” the 31-year-old Banks announced, “but it’s not a choice that I made.”

The Victoria’s Secret model displayed how her push-up bra exaggerated her body. And then she admitted that she’s not totally real.

“I got fake hair, y’all,” she said. “I got fake eyelashes.”

As for Banks’ career, well, she hosts a talk show. Enough said.

Vern finally got his cherry flavor Pez

Seems the fat kid from “Stand By Me” has won out in the end. While the other principal stars of the 1986 film are either dead (River Phoenix) or starring in voiceovers and/or second-rate movies (Will Wheaton, Corey Feldman), Jerry O’Connell is doing well. Not only has O’Connell, 31 – the loser Vern in “Stand By Me” – been enjoying a successful television career (“Crossing Jordan,” “Sliders”), he just announced that he’s engaged to “X-Men” beauty Rebecca Romijn Stamos, 32.

Slater, meanwhile, continues to skate by

Bad-boy Christian Slater slipped by this one. Groping charges against the movie will be dropped if the actor stays out of trouble for the next six months. “The case is dismissed, and we are very pleased with the outcome,” his lawyer, Eric Franz, said Monday outside Manhattan Criminal Court. Slater, 36, was arrested May 31 and charged with forcible touching for allegedly groping a woman during a late night run-in. He served 59 days in jail after an August 1997 incident when he went wild during a rowdy Los Angeles party.

Kirstie had good news and bad news

Kirstie Alley is into health but probably out of a job. Alley, who starred on Showtime’s reality-comedy series “Fat Actress,” has lost 50 pounds. The 54-year-old actress – who had ballooned up to about 200 pounds – is 30 pounds away from her original goal. The former “Cheers” actress is interested in another sitcom but doesn’t expect Showtime to bring back “Fat Actress” for a second season. “I think (they) have great concerns about me not being fat,” she said.

Benny’s a star, but where’s Joon?

It’s official: Johnny Depp is a Hollywood movie star. The 42-year-old actor (“Benny & Joon,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”) signed his name and placed his handprints and footprints in wet concrete in front of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. “So this is weird,” Deep said as hundreds of fans watched. “I mean, to say that this is overwhelming is probably the understatement of the millennium.”
