Kelcie Vallies struck out seven in a shutout for the Indians (7-1). … Ashley Fargher collected two hits and two RBIs, and University rolled to a 12-2 win over visiting Cheney (2-6). •Greater Spokane League: Kyle Krustangel and Chad Berland had back-to-back solo home runs to give Ferris the go-ahead runs in a 6-5 win over visiting East Valley (4-5). The Saxons (6-1) came back from a 3-0 deficit, scoring all six of their runs in the fifth and sixth innings … Pete Arneson’s RBI single sparked a four-run sixth inning, which turned out to be the difference in host Lewis and Clark’s 8-4 victory over Mt. Spokane (5-4) at Hart Field. Eric Barge allowed two runs in six innings to pick up the win for the Tigers (3-4). … Matt Walsh scattered four hits in a complete-game shutout, and Mead pulled out a 4-0 win at Rogers (2-5). The Cardinals’ (2-7, 2-3) Justin Linafelter scored the first goal of the game 5 minutes into the first half, and the Rams’ (5-1, 4-1) Matt Kummer tied it up 13 minutes later. … Mingxiang Wang scored the only goal of the game in the 62nd minute, and Pullman (7-0, 5-0) edged visiting Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) (5-3, 3-2) 1-0. … Kevin McNeil scored twice in the first half, and Matt Dougherty added two more insurance goals in the second as Deer Park (4-4, 4-2) grabbed a 5-0 win over visiting Chewelah (0-7, 0-6).
Girls golf
•Greater Spokane League: Mead placed three golfers in the top 10 and edged Lewis and Clark by seven strokes to take the team title at an all-GSL meet at Wandemere Golf Course. Gonzaga Prep’s Annie Brophy was the medalist, shooting a 2-under-par 70 as the lone golfer to break par.
