RiverHawks take control with sweep
Darin Holcomb and Brian Yardley had an RBI apiece in each game Tuesday as the Spokane RiverHawks took control of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League with a 2-1, 3-0 sweep of Moses Lake at Avista Stadium.
Spokane (26-13) leads Wenatchee (23-14) by two games as it heads into its final series of the regular season, a three-game set at Bellingham that starts Friday.
Matt Crowe won the opener, limiting the Pirates (14-25) to five hits over seven innings.
Cale Ort, Tommy Tribbett and Josh Williamson combined on the second-game shutout.

Gonzaga checked in at No. 7 in the poll despite the return of junior forward George Josten, who led the WCC with 12 goals last season. Einar Thorarinsson was tabbed for WCC Co-Coach of the Year accolades after leading the Zags to a 7-9-4 finish in 2005.
