Rockies 8, Brewers 2: At Denver, Byung-Hyun Kim allowed one run in eight innings and Todd Helton homered and drove in three runs to lead Colorado over Milwaukee. Jeremy Affeldt (Northwest Christian High), making his Colorado debut, allowed a solo homer in the ninth.

Mets 6, Marlins 5: At Miami, New York took advantage of four errors by Florida and closer Billy Wagner escaped a ninth-inning jam by striking out the side to close out a victory.

Dodgers 5, Reds 3: At Cincinnati, Brad Penny pitched six sharp innings and drove in a run to help Los Angeles beat Cincinnati for its fifth straight victory.

Braves 3, Pirates 2: At Pittsburgh, Edgar Renteria hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the eighth as Atlanta defeated Pittsburgh.

Giants 8, Nationals 6: At San Francisco, Moises Alou homered, hit a two-run double and singled in a run, and San Francisco defeated Washington to end its longest losing streak (nine) in 10 years.
