Liner hurts Santana
CLEVELAND – Los Angeles Angels pitcher Ervin Santana was helped from the field by team trainers Thursday night after being hit in the left leg by a line drive.
With one out in the first inning, Cleveland’s Jason Michaels lined a 1-0 pitch back through the middle that hit Santana on the inside of his left leg, above the shin and near the knee.
Santana rolled on the ground in pain as Michaels made it to first base safely with a single. Manager Mike Scioscia, Los Angeles infielders and team trainers then crowded around the right-hander. After a few minutes, Santana walked to the dugout with assistance.
