Police think bombs linked
SALEM – Investigators in Salem and Dallas, Ore., think the four pipe bombs found in the city this week came from one source.
Federal, state and local officials are investigating the bombs, found at four locations Thursday. No one was hurt.
So far, no suspects have emerged.
The first bomb was found just before noon, underneath the car of a visitor to Salem Hospital. The second was found at 12:15 p.m. near a Salem grocery store. A third was found several hours later in a Salem roadway, and the fourth was found on a vehicle in a parking lot of an electronics plant in Dallas. All four were disabled by police.
Police said Friday the two bombs found lying on the road may have fallen off moving cars. They are asking Salem-area residents to check the undercarriages of their cars for suspicious wires.
