White Sox 10, Tigers 0: At Detroit, Chicago rallied for a four-game split, preventing Detroit from building another huge lead in the Central. Jon Garland pitched a six-hitter and Jermaine Dye hit two homers to lift Chicago to its second straight win after losing the first two games by a combined 11-1.

Twins 11, Orioles 2: At Baltimore, Michael Cuddyer went 4 for 4 with four RBIs, Joe Mauer had three hits and drove in four runs, and Minnesota cruised past Baltimore. Justin Morneau and Torii Hunter also homered for Minnesota, who remained a half-game behind the Chicago White Sox in the wild-card race.

Rangers 4, Devil Rays 3: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Robinson Tejeda won his second consecutive start since being called up from the minor leagues and Carlos Lee hit a solo homer, helping Texas get the victory over Tampa Bay and avoid a four-game sweep.

Indians 8, Royals 4: At Kansas City, Mo., rookie Andy Marte had a career-high three RBIs, and Victor Martinez and Ryan Garko hit consecutive ninth-inning solo homers to lead Cleveland to a victory over Kansas City.

Red Sox 2, Angels 1: At Anaheim, Calif., Josh Beckett rebounded from one of the worst outings of his career to pitch six strong innings, David Ortiz hit his 46th homer, and Boston got the win over Los Angeles to hand rookie Jered Weaver his first loss.
