Royals 2, Blue Jays 0: At Toronto, Runelvys Hernandez outpitched Roy Halladay for his first career shutout, leading Kansas City past Toronto. Mark Teahan and Ryan Shealy homered for the Royals, who ended a three-game losing skid.
Orioles 3, Devil Rays 2: At Baltimore, Ramon Hernandez singled in the winning run with two outs in the ninth inning to give Baltimore the victory over Tampa Bay. Nick Markakis and Jeff Conine homered for Baltimore, which has won 7 of 10.
Indians 8, Tigers 5: At Cleveland, rookie Joe Inglett’s two-run triple off Justin Verlander highlighted Cleveland’s six-run fifth inning to lead the win over Detroit, which has lost four straight and maybe its stranglehold on the Central.
Twins 8, White Sox 7 (11): At Chicago, Nick Punto hit an RBI single with two outs in the 11th and Minnesota increased its wild-card lead to 11/2 games by beating Chicago.
Athletics 5, Rangers 3: At Arlington, Texas, Joe Blanton provided another strong pitching performance, leaving with two outs in the seventh, and Nick Swisher homered as Oakland beat Texas.
