Pitching stifles Indians

The Spokesman-Review

PASCO – The Spokane Indians were shutout 3-0 by the Tri-City Dust Devils on Sunday at Dust Devil Stadium.

The Indians mustered just three hits; none in the final five innings.

The Dust Devils used stellar relief pitching in the latter innings and sat on a lead from a three-run fourth inning to down Spokane in a game dominated by defense.

Kyle Rogers pitched well for Spokane, outside of the fourth. He gave up three runs on four hits, including a home run to Bret Berglund. He also struck out eight batters along the way.

The three hits for Spokane came from Chad Tracy, Craig Gentry, Karl Herren.

Tracy’s hit was a high pop down the third base line that the wind brought back into the field after initially floating into foul territory, confusing Dust Devils defenders and resulting in a double. Gentry reached base on a bunt single.
