The defending NCAA champion Washington Huskies beat Penn State (32-3) 30-27, 30-24, 28-30, 30-26 Saturday night in the NCAA regional volleyball finals at Bank of America Arena in Seattle.

It was Washington’s 31st consecutive victory on its home floor, a streak that dates to 2004.

The Huskies (29-4) advanced to their third straight NCAA Final Four, Thursday at Omaha, Neb., and will play Stanford.

Stevie Mussie led the Huskies with 20 kills and Christal Morrison added 15.

Wrestling

Richy Zuniga, Josh Williams and Kenny Quallich all had pins to lead Southwestern Oregon to a 25-20 win over North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene.

Zuniga, wrestling at 125 pounds, pinned Josh Knight. Williams (133) pinned Josh Manes and Quallich pulled off the feat against Dustin Fowler in the 157-pound weight class.

Heinrich Barnes (141) and Evan Mattingly (197) won major decisions for North Idaho (4-4).

Football

Washington State University held its annual season-ending banquet to honor the senior class of 2006 as well as the standout performers from a season that ended with a 6-6 record.

Two wide receivers were named co-winners of the team’s offensive MVP award as senior Jason Hill and junior Michael Bumpus shared the honor.

Senior safety Eric Frampton was a triple winner, taking home defensive MVP honors in addition to the Game Breaker and Fred Bohler Awards.

Senior defensive end Mkristo Bruce received the Leon Bender Award as the defensive lineman of the year.

Senior offensive tackle Charles Harris received the Mike Utley Award, given to the offensive lineman of the year.
