Hospital offers new academy
A consulting group that worked with Sacred Heart Medical Center to restructure the way its emergency room works is joining with the hospital on a new academy that will offer training to hospital leaders from across the country.
Empath Consulting and Sacred Heart consider the changes to the emergency room and other hospital units a big success. In the emergency room, waiting times and other issues plaguing the busy department have been turned around.
It was an important change considering that more than a third of all hospital admissions come through the emergency room. The hospital claims that it has been able to see thousands more patients each year, earn more money and boost patient satisfaction – all at the same time.
The academy, which will be located at Sacred Heart, is the first of its kind for Empath, based in the San Francisco area. The academy will teach participants how the changes happened at Sacred Heart.
The Academy seminars will be held four times each year beginning in January. Sessions cost from $600 to $2,000, and last from one to three days.
