Girls basketball : Vikings bounce back

After losing its first game of the season to Mandan (N.D.) Thursday, Coeur d’Alene responded Friday with a 73-46 rout of Crescent Valley at the Gillette (Wyo.) Energy Classic.

Kama Griffitts led all scorers with 20 points for the Vikings, who outscored Crescent Valley 47-27 in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Coeur d’Alene (11-1) will play Princton, Texas, today at 11 a.m.

Katie Baker scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Lake City to a 56-43 win over Enumclaw (Wash.) in the championship game of the Enumclaw tournament. Richelle Fenenbock added 14 points for the Timberwolves (10-2), who took a 43-29 lead into the fourth quarter.

Non-league

Ashley Kanikkeberg scored 16 points, leading Troy to a 67-42 win over host Lakeside in Plummer. Saundra Curley had 14 points and four steals for the Knights (5-6), who fell behind 23-10 in the first quarter. … In other non-league action, Steph Cantrall scored a season-high 17 points, leading Kellogg to a 48-35 win over host Potlatch. Amanda Seeling chipped in 10 points and Stefanne Crow and Marisa Bush added nine apiece for the Wildcats (12-0), who built a 23-12 halftime lead. …Tabitha Clark scored 13 points as Priest River (9-4) slid past Deer Park 44-43. The Stags missed three opportunities to score in the final 15 seconds. Brianna Nap scored 10 points to lead Deer Park (2-4).

Greater Spokane League

Senior Alysha Green scored 17 points and Kami Clark added 12 as Mead beat host Shadle Park 51-43. Lexi Bishop scored 13 points and Lexie Pettersen chipped in with 12 for the Highlanders (5-4), who shot just 2 of 18 from the field in the fourth quarter. The Panthers (7-2) outscored Shadle 19-8 in the decisive fourth quarter. … Elsewhere in the GSL, Lyndi Seidensticker scored 19 points and Katelan Redmon added 17 points and five assists as Lewis and Clark breezed past visiting Rogers (1-8) 75-19. Brittany Kennedy added nine points for the Tigers (9-0), who built a 45-3 halftime-lead. … Tara Cronin scored 19 points as Gonzaga Prep (5-3, 5-3) edged host Ferris 44-41. Jenna Galloway, who scored 13 points to lead the Saxons (5-4), missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime. … Sam Patrick scored a game-high 19 points and Korina Baker added 14 as Mt. Spokane topped host North Central 51-46. The Wildcats (1-7) got out to a quick start, outscoring the Indians 13-5 in the first quarter. Alicia Kahler tallied 12 points to lead North Central (0-9). … Angie Bjorklund scored 31 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, leading University to a 67-35 win over host East Valley. Dara Zack added 11 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for the Titans (9-1), who outscored the Knights 22-6 in the second quarter to take a 43-18 lead into halftime. Kelsi Jacobson tallied 15 points to lead East Valley (4-5).

Washington non-league

Karla Koller scored 13 points and Alyssa Koller chipped in 12 as LaCrosse-Washtucna beat Dayton 56-35 in LaCrosse. Meghan Starting added nine points for the Tigercats (7-2), who built a 36-9 halftime lead. … In other non-league play, Karissa Lehn had 22 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks as Republic (5-5) beat visiting Omak 64-37. Jenna Burbank contributed 13 points and nine rebounds for the Tigers.

“Senior Jen Christerson scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, guiding Reardan to a 73-61 win over Wellpinit at the Reardan tournament. Brook Ferderer added 15 points for the Indians (7-2), who led 43-28 at the half. Samantha Flett scored a game-high 30 points for the Redskins (3-5). … Also at the tournament, Jenny Polm scored 16 points and Nikki Nelson chipped in 13 as Chewelah edged St. John-Endicott 46-41. The Cougars (8-0) will meet Reardan today at 6 p.m. for the championship. The Eagles (4-4) will play Wellpinit in the consolation game.
