Give them a big raspberry hooray
As we wade though the Oscar nominations, let us not forget the Razzies, which honor the very worst Hollywood has to offer.
The nominations are in, and the worst-picture category is a tight race between “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo,” “Dirty Love with Jenny McCarthy,” “House of Wax” and “Son of the Mask.”
“Son of the Mask,” a sequel to the 1994 Jim Carrey comedy, leads the pack with eight Razzie nominations including worst actor for Jamie Kennedy.
Other worst-actor nods went to Tom Cruise (“War of the Worlds”), Will Ferrell (“Bewitched” and “Kicking & Screaming”), The Rock (“Doom”) and Rob Schneider for his second go-round as Bigalow.
McCarthy is joined in the worst actress field by Jessica Alba (“Fantastic Four” and “Into the Blue”), Hilary Duff (“Cheaper by the Dozen 2” and “The Perfect Man”), Jennifer Lopez (“Monster-in-Law”) and Tara Reid (“Alone in the Dark”).
Winners will be named March 4, the day before the Oscars.
‘Commander’ relieved?
Golden Globe winner Geena Davis is starting to look like a lame-duck president.
ABC has shelved “Commander in Chief,” starring Davis as the country’s first female chief executive, until spring. It started strong but ratings have slipped, particularly since the return of “American Idol” on Tuesdays.
Double doody
It’s a boy – and a girl – for acting duo Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance.
The twins were born Friday to a surrogate mother. Bassett, an Academy Award nominee for the Tina Turner biopic “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” and Vance (“Law & Order: Criminal Intent”) have been married eight years.
Moss back
Kate Moss met Tuesday with detectives in London to discuss her alleged cocaine use.
Since a tabloid in September published pictures of her snorting coke, the 32-year-old supermodel has been away from Britain, visiting an Arizona rehab clinic and doing modeling work.
Show and tell
Dave Chappelle, who mysteriously walked away from his Comedy Central “Chappelle’s Show” and a $50 million deal last year, will explain it all to Oprah.
In his first TV interview, Chappelle will visit “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Friday.
