Hawkeyes end Purdue’s 13-game winning streak

Freshman Wendy Ausdemore scored a career-high 23 points and Iowa rallied to beat No. 8 Purdue 77-71 in overtime Thursday night in Iowa City, Iowa, snapping the Boilermakers’ 13-game winning streak.

Aya Traore led the Boilermakers with 19 points, and Erin Lawless added 16. Purdue last lost on Dec. 3 to DePaul.

(1) North Carolina 75, (24) N.C. State 58: At Chapel Hill, N.C., Ivory Latta had 11 of her 18 points in the second half, teammates Erlana Larkins and Camille Little each added 17 points as the Tar Heels celebrated their first game ever at No. 1 with a win.

(3) LSU 93, Arkansas 59: At Fayetteville, Ark., Sylvia Fowles had 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Lady Tigers won their 21st straight regular-season SEC game.

(5) Tennessee 78, Mississippi 63: At Oxford, Miss., Sidney Spencer and Shanna Zolman each scored 18 points to help the Lady Vols clinch their 30th straight 20-win season under coach Pat Summitt.

(12) Minnesota 64, Illinois 49: At Champaign, Ill., Jamie Broback scored 14 of her 18 points in the first half to lead the Golden Gophers to their sixth straight Big Ten road win.

(14) Georgia 91, (21) Kentucky 57: At Athens, Ga., Tasha Humphrey had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.

(15) Stanford 79, Oregon 58: At Stanford, Calif., Brooke Smith had 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals as the Cardinal won their 43rd straight conference home game.

(19) BYU 60, (16) New Mexico 55: At Provo, Utah, Jennie Keele scored five of her 12 points in the final 1:18 as the Cougars won their 10th straight.

(17) Michigan State 79, Northwestern 59: At Evanston, Ill., Victoria Lucas-Perry scored 23 points and Liz Shimek added 20 to lift the Spartans

(18) Arizona State 87, UCLA 70: Kristen Kovesdy scored 18 points and Reagan Pariseau (Central Valley) added a season-high 10 as the Sun Devils improved to 11-0 at Tempe, Ariz.

(21) Vanderbilt 65, Alabama 53: At Tuscaloosa, Ala., Liz Sherwood scored a game-high 23 points and had five rebounds as the Commodores finished the game on a 16-0 run.

(23) Boston College 77, Wake Forest 63: At Boston, Brooke Queenan scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Eagles.

Men

Maureece Rice scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half to help No. 10 George Washington rally to beat Xavier 89-85 in Cincinnati and remain unbeaten in the Atlantic 10.

The Colonials, who hadn’t won on the Musketeers’ home court in 10 years, have won eight straight games since being blown out at North Carolina State on Dec. 30.
